FlowRow Board for WaterRower Original
On a conventional rowing machine, you only move back and forth. The FlowRow Board adds the second direction of movement: your rowing machine tilts sideways, like a real rowing boat. Your deep core muscles automatically compensate for this with every stroke, for a stable back and a workout that never gets boring.
- Precisely manufactured for WaterRower Original
- 6 balance levels via interchangeable rubber buffers
- Ready to use immediately — simply place it under your rowing machine (no assembly required)
- Made of solid wood, manufactured in Europe
- Patented in Europe, USA and China
- Also manufactured by WaterRower | NOHrD under our license
Fits your rowing machine
The board fits all WaterRower models with the classic wooden frame: Original in all wood finishes (Vintage, Oak, Shadow, Club, Cherry, Walnut), Performance Ergometer, Lite (formerly Pure Design VR3), S1 from the Metallic series, as well as Ergatta and Ergatta Lite. Older machines are often called Natural, Classic or Oxbridge – they fit too.
HiRise adapter: If your WaterRower stands on the HiRise adapter, the board fits as well. Choose one or two balance levels lower than recommended, because the higher center of gravity makes the machine tilt more.
Not compatible: A1, M1 LoRise and M1 HiRise. There are separate FlowRow Boards for the A1 and M1 LoRise.
You row in three dimensions of movement. On a conventional rowing machine, you glide back and forth on the seat. The FlowRow Board introduces the second dimension – the lateral tilting motion. With Slides, the third is added: the entire rowing machine glides back and forth – similar to a boat moving beneath you.
This creates a rowing sensation that comes astonishingly close to a real racing single.
In the version for Slides, the lower boards are larger and shaped to fit exactly into the carriages of the Slides. The Slides version is available in black.

Which balance level is right for me?
The balance level determines how much the FlowRow Board makes your rowing machine sway. Answer two quick questions and we will recommend your level.
1. Your body weight?
2. Your sense of balance? (your best guess is fine)
And if it turns out differently: with an adjustment kit (from €40) you can switch to any other level at any time.
By the way: 9 out of 10 customers start between level 2 and 4 — level 3 is the most popular.

Balance level and changing it
The heart of the board is the rubber mount: two steel discs with natural rubber in between. It does not dampen — it flexes. That is exactly what lets your board tilt and come back. The softer the rubber compound, the wobblier the board.
The six balance levels work like different rowing boats: a boat built for heavier rowers is more stable — that matches a lower balance level with a firmer rubber compound. A narrower boat for technically skilled rowers demands more balance — that matches a higher level. So choose your level by body weight and sense of balance.
You can change the level at any time. The rubber mount is held by one hex screw on the upper and one on the lower plate. The matching hex key comes with every conversion kit; the change takes a few minutes and needs no DIY skills.
The rubber pads included are something different: they don't make the board steadier, they limit how far it can move — like training wheels on a bike. Ideal for your first sessions.
Also available in specialist stores
You will also find the FlowRow Board in specialist retail — at Manufactum, for example, or at fitness specialists such as Fitshop. Most retailers source it from WaterRower | NOHrD GmbH, with whom we have a licence agreement. Those boards are usually available only for the WaterRower, in black and with balance level 2.
Geometrically and functionally they are identical to the boards we build. If your board carries no balance level sticker, it is Level 2 — and every conversion kit in this shop fits it.
